Cristiano Ronaldo struggling to make an impact at Real Madrid
Since arriving in the Spanish capital back in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo has acted as Real Madrid's talisman, scoring goals for fun.
But the notion that Ronaldo is still Real's main man may not be entirely correct. Alongside teammate Karim Benzema, he may well be the club's joint leading scorer in La Liga this season with 19 goals, but his importance to the cause appears to be diminishine Mirror have reported that Ronaldo's goals this season are yet to earn his side a single point in Spain's elite division. Now that is surprising. It's even more remarkable when you compare his influence this season against the past two campaigns.
At this stage in the 2014/15 season, his goals had contributed to 10 points while in 2013/14, 14 points had been earned through Ronaldo's strikes. Perhaps, then,RONALDO DECLINE?
Naturally, Ronaldo was never going to be able to stay at the very top of the game forever, but he would have still been hoping to make more of an impact this season. In fact, Ronaldo has scored in less than half of Real's league games.
A goalscoring machine he has been, but for how much longer?
IT'S A WORRY
Ultimately, then, these statistics should worry Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane who will be desperate to claim silverware this term.
Zidane will know better than anyone that he has to challenge for all the major honours, but it's not going to be easy for him if his star man isn't at his scintillating best.
As it stands, Real sit in third place in La Liga - they are four points behind table-toppers Barcelona - and must find momentum over the coming weeks and months.
With Zidane's side also challenging for Champions League silverware, Ronaldo will have to be at his best in the competition if the club are going to be able to compete with the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
