San Francisco stabbing victim is IT

A British man stabbed in the head with a knife during a robbery in San Francisco is a respected IT professional from Manchester, it has emerged.Paul Tam, 44, was walking with his niece, who was visiting from Southern California, when he was attacked by a man and a woman on Friday evening.Mr Tam, who recently left his job as website manager at Manchester Universityto work freelance in the US -The San Francisco Police Department described the attack as "severe" and said his injuries remained "life threatening".A spokesman told the Telegraph they had obtained CCTV footage which they believe showed the suspects, but no arrests had yet been made.A spokesman for the Foreign Office said:"We are in contact with the family of a British national who is in hospital in San Francisco, and will continue to offer support at this difficult time."Police are now hunting the man - described as black, muscular in his 30s or 40s, and the woman, also black, and had dreadlocks or braids in a ponytail. She wassaid to in her late 20s.
