Manchester United reach agreement to sign Brazilian attacker

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Felipe Anderson for £47million, according to Lazio president Claudio Lotito. As revealed by Football Insider, the Premier League giants dispatched scouts to watch the Brazilian attacker on Sunday and have closely watched him in recent months.United had a £37.6million bid for Anderson rejected by the Serie A club in January. Now, Lotitio has been reported by Italian publication Il Messaggero as telling colleagues on Sunday that a deal has been struck with United for the winger to move in the summer.“I signed Felipe Anderson for €8m and have already re-sold him for €60m,” Lotito reportedly said. “Next year he’ll go to Manchester United.”The Serie A side’s chairman met withjournalists ahead of the second division clash between Salernitana and Crotone.Lotito was at the game representing Salernitana – his son in law is their president – and while journalists were expecting team or injury news, they were surprised to learn of the deal.United’s pursuit of Anderson was unsuccessful in January as the Premier League giants were only willing to pay £30million up front, while Lazio wanted €50million – the equivalent of £39million – in an initialpayment and no add-ons.However, United have not given up hope of landing the 22-year-old and assessed him in Sunday’s Serie A clash against Frosinone, which Laziowon 2-0.The 22-year-old, who transferred fromSantos in the summer of 2013, signed a new contract last March that runs until the summer of 2020.Anderson has scored seven goals and supplied four assists in his 34 appearances for Lazio this season.
